Today I want to share with you a beautiful Zimbabwean proverb:
“The axe forgets; the tree remembers.” —Zimbabwean proverb.
The message here is that people don’t forget how they were treated, and it is why it is important to be kind. I thought this was an interesting analogy and want to take it a bit further into the realm of coding.
How often have you used your brain (your axe) to write some code (the tree) only to revisit your code later and think to yourself “oh god what a mess, who wrote this crap,” only to find out later that that guy was… you. The axe forgets, the tree remembers.
